Out Live Your Life
By Max Lucado
This book is vintage Max
Lucado.His gift of words continues
to amaze me as I read some of the most familiar portions of scripture and see
them in a new light.
This book’s byline states
that “You were made to make a difference.”It is the heart cry of virtually person to make a difference.“Will it matter that I lived?” is asked
by person after person.
Outlive Your Life opens believers’ eyes to the realities of a hurting world and does so by
helping us see through the eyes of Jesus. You’ll come to understand that just because you can not do everything,
you can do something.You’ll see
that demonstrated through the life of a World War II hero, Nicolas Winton. What he could not do for six million
people he did do for 669.
Over the years socially
conservative Christians have touted our focus on the Gospel while others have
focused on social needs.Our
arguments of “What matter does it make if their stomach is full today if their
soul is lost for eternity?” run shallow with over 1900 verses in the Bible telling
us to care for the poor, the downcast, the hurting, etc.
We are reminded to pray first,
stand up for the have-nots, not write off anyone, do good quietly, get out of
our comfort shell and never forget the Gospel.Of course, it would not be Lucado if it did not end with a
chapter as creatively titled as “That’s Jesus Playing That Fiddle.”
Outlive Your Life says we can make a difference if we will. That difference will be both physical and spiritual. I will. Will you?
